Following its annual auditions, the Beth Fowler Dance Company of Genoa and St. Charles announced its company members for the 2011-12 season. The dancers are individually evaluated on criteria such as strength, flexibility and technique to achieve a professional performance level.
Company members are in rehearsal for the first dance production of the season “The Nutcracker.” The company’s 18th annual production of the classic holiday ballet will be presented at DeKalb’s Egyptian Theatre at 7pm Dec. 9th; 2 pm and 7 pm Dec 10th and 2pm Dec. 11th.
New surprises await you with new added scenes and characters in this year’s production. The newly created role of the Christmas Fairy will be performed by company member Hannah Smith who was crowned Miss Illinois this summer. In January she will represent Illinois at the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas. Artistic Director Beth Fowler has choreographed the piece Hannah will perform in the talent portion of the pageant.
The second production of the company’s season will be “Sleeping Beauty” performed at the Egyptian Theatre March 16-18, 2012. The company will close the season with its production “Grease and More” which will also be held at the Egyptian Theatre June 8-10, 2012.
Early bird discount ticket prices thru November are $12 for children age 12 and younger and $18 for adults. Starting Dec. 1 tickets will be available at the regular price of $15 for children and $20 for adults. Tickets for “The Nutcracker” are available online at www.egyptiantheatre.org. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 135 N. Second St in DeKalb, IL.
