Barb City Manor recently held their annual Volunteer Appreciation Event and announced the 2017 Friends Volunteer of the year. The Volunteer of the Year award was created in 1985 to honor a member of Friends of Barb City Manor who has shown outstanding dedication and service over the years. The Barb City Manor, Inc., Board of Directors selects the recipient of this award with the help of members of FRIENDS and Barb City Manor staff. The selection criteria for this award include: the hours of service given, and variety of duties undertaken; and the individual’s reliability, cooperation, creativity, attitude, personality, and energy.
The 2017 Volunteer of the Year, Treesa Anderson, joined FRIENDS in 2015 and is involved in a variety of FRIENDS activities. Those who work with her describe her as having a nice personality and that she has “a way about her” making her easy and enjoyable to work with. She is eager to share her great ideas in the ReSale Shop and for resident activities.
She also enjoys visiting with residents during birthday parties, resident socials, and anytime she drops in. She is dedicated to the ReSale Shop – working many times a month, greeting shoppers, and helping them find the perfect items. Treesa states “Barb City Manor is a very welcoming place, and I have enjoyed getting to know several of the residents and visiting with them. It has been a pleasure.”
