Indian Valley Theatre announces auditions for ARSENIC AND OLD LACE
Indian Valley Theatre and director Kathie Hart are excited to announce auditions for it’s upcoming production of ARSENIC AND OLD LACE by Joseph Kesselring.
ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is a classic black comedy that has had audiences rolling in the aisles for years. The play revolves around Mortimer Brewster, a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and local police in Brooklyn, NY, as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves. His family includes two spinster aunts who have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of home-made elderberry wine laced with arsenic; a brother who believes he is Theodore Roosevelt; and a murderous brother.
Auditioners should be prepared to read cold from the script and no appointment is necessary. Auditions are on Sunday, August 18th from 1-5pm and Monday, August 19th from 7-9 pm. They will be held at the Sandwich Opera House at 140 E. Railroad St. in Sandwich, in the Community Room (side entrance). Performances are scheduled for Friday, October 18th thru Sunday, October 20th at the Sandwich Opera House.

Stage Coach Players Auditions for Annie and A Christmas Carol
Stage Coach Players of DeKalb announces the Fall Auditions for ANNIE and A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The Annie productions are November 6 – 16 and A Christmas Carol productions are December 12 – 15 at Stage Coach Theater in DeKalb. The auditions will be held at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave, Sycamore, on August 19th (Monday, 6:30 – 9:30) and August 20th (Tuesday, 6:30 – 9:30). Please come in the West door, by the church offices, and follow the signs.
A Christmas Carol will be Stage Coach’s last annual production for a few years. The classic story of Scrooge and the 3 spirits of Christmas. They will also will be using a different adaptation (done by the director, Amanda Smothers) of Charles Dicken’s Classic. Annie is a wonderful, heart-warming musical about the spunky and sassy NYC orphan who makes her way into Daddy Warbuck’s heart. This is the 90th anniversary of Annie appearing on Broadway!
Both shows are looking for men and women, boys and girls, from age 7 up (they should be able to read). Those wishing to audition for Annie need to come prepared (with sheet music) to sing a song of their choice, and possibly be asked to sing something from the show. They will have a piano accompanist for your audition. They will have show tune books for you to make a selection from if you don’t have any sheet music. Everyone will be asked to read selections from the scripts. Younger children may be considered with director approval.
Annie will also be auditioning sandy colored dogs for the part of Sandy (but not at the church), dog audition locations will be announced soon.
