On July 18, 2015, the DeKalb Police Department and the DeKalb Fire Department responded to 832 Ridge Drive in reference to a fire inside one of the apartments. The fire was extinguished and the DeKalb Fire Department estimated that the fire caused approximately $5,000 in damage.
Investigators learned that Amber Turner was in a dating relationship with one of the occupants of the apartment. Amber Turner was observed waiting in the hallway near her boyfriend’s apartment. As Turner’s boyfriend left, she attacked him by punching him several times in the hallway.
Turner watched everyone from the apartment leave. Once the apartment was empty, Amber Turner entered the apartment through a window and set fire to items she gathered inside the apartment. Amber Turner was seen leaving the apartment complex with her hair and clothes wet shortly after the fire alarms/sprinkler systems were activated.
The DeKalb Fire Department classified this fire as incendiary/arson. Evidence located at the scene supports that this fire was intentionally set.
On July 20, 2015, an arrest warrant was issued for Amber D. Turner, 21 years of age, from Evergreen Park, IL 60805. Turner was charged with Aggravated Arson (Class X Felony), Residential Arson (Class 1 Felony), Arson (Class 2 Felony) and Criminal Damage to Property (Class 4 Felony). Turner’s bond was set at $35,000 dollars, 10% to apply.
The investigation into the Arson continues. If you know where Amber Turner could be located, please contact the DeKalb Police Department, Crime Stoppers or I Watch.
