DeKalb County Board Chairman Mark Pietrowski, Jr. has announced that he will be accepting applications from interested citizens to be appointed to a seat on the three-member DeKalb County Sanitary District Board. Members of the Sanitary District Board serve for three year (staggered) terms beginning on May 1st.
The DeKalb Sanitary District is operated as a utility, responsible for providing sanitary sewer services largely within the City of DeKalb. The Board of Trustees is the corporate authority of the DeKalb Sanitary District and governs the affairs and property of the district. The Board has full power to pass ordinances, rules and regulations for the proper management and conduct of the business of the District.
The mission of the DeKalb Sanitary District is to protect the public health and environment by providing collection, treatment, and disposal of wastewater for customers within the District in an efficient and economical manner. The District must adhere to environmental regulations as established by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the DeKalb Sanitary District is held at noon, generally on the third Wednesday of each month, but subject to change by the Trustees. The meetings are held in the office of the District at 303 Hollister Avenue, DeKalb, IL. Trustees receive an annual salary and as of May 1, 2017 that amount will be $6,000.

Candidates should be sure to include background information as to what strengths they would bring to this Board. Finalist will be subject to a background check. Application deadline is March 29, 2017 with the appointment expected to be made on April 19, 2017.
