On April 30, 2014, the DeKalb Police Department responded to 801 N. First Street for a subject who was not breathing. The victim, David Pierce, was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital where he died. Evidence of heroin use was recovered from 801 N. First Street.
On May 1, 2014, the DeKalb Police Department arrested Anthony S. McClain for Unlawful Delivery of heroin within a 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful delivery of heroin, unlawful possession of heroin and driving on a revoked license.
Police learned through their investigation that Anthony McClain delivered heroin to David Pierce just prior to his death. David Pierce was then seen injecting the heroin into his body that was delivered to him by Antony McClain. Minutes later, David Pierce, went unconscious and later died.
An autopsy was conducted and the immediate cause of David Pierce’s death was ruled as heroin intoxication.
On May 21, 2014, Anthony McClain was charged with Drug Induced Homicide. McClain, 30 years of age, resides in Cortland. McClain’s bond was set at $500,000.
