Annex Theatre Company will perform The Legend of Sleepy Hollow this Friday-Sunday, September 24-26 at the Egyptian Theatre. This is a musical created by all local talent, based on the classic story by Washington Irving. This is not the gory Hollywood version of the story. It is a great family musical, and just in time to usher in the Fall season. Lydia Daffenberg, a veteran of local community theatre, wrote the adaptation. Gavin Wilson, local composer and performer, composed the score. Joey Gage is directing.
The story takes place in the village of Sleepy Hollow, where superstitious townsfolk tell the tale of a Headless Horseman. The main character is Ichabod Crane, the eccentric schoolmaster whose efforts to court local heiress Katrina Van Tassel are thwarted by the town’s dashing and devious Brom Bones.
Performances are scheduled for 7pm Friday and Saturday (September 24-25), and 2pm Sunday (September 26) at the Egyptian. Tickets are $6 for children and students, $12 for adults, available at the door or on the Egyptian Theatre website. For more information call 815-991-5608.
