The 3rd Annual Al Thompson Memorial Car Show will take place this Sunday, August 7th in the back area of Timber Creek Inn & Suites (3300 Drew Ave, Sandwich) from 8am to 3pm. Registration will be held the day of the car show from 8am-12pm. Awards will be given out at the end of the show.
“We are really excited to be sponsoring the car show again,” said Shane Skillin, owner of Mike’s Auto Body. “Last year was such a big success and we are happy to be supporting a great local charity like DeKalb County Hospice.”
The Al Thompson Memorial Car Show is held annually in honor of Al Thompson who lost his battle with liver cancer in 2009. After his passing, his son, Jeff wanted to find a way to honor the memory of his father. Since Al Thompson was a classic car enthusiast, Jeff felt a car show would be a nice way to commemorate his father’s legacy. The car show has been going strong for the past three years and all proceeds from raffles held during the car show are donated to DeKalb County Hospice.
This year the car show will include a 50/50 raffle, awards, pig roast, music by Carousel Sound Company and many raffle prizes. Organizers are currently accepting raffle donations. If you or your business is interested in donating a raffle item to the car show, please contact Stacy Skillin at Mike’s Auto Body, 815-786-8222.
