We are proud to announce that Adventure Works has been awarded a Community Needs Grant by the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The grant, valued at $15,750, will fund the continued development of Adventure Works’ Outdoor Therapy space.
Through the DCCF Community Needs Grants program, over $25 million has been awarded to the community through grants and distributions since the Foundation was founded in 1993.
Adventure Works is a nonprofit, interactive counseling agency that serves youth up to the age of 26, providing individual, family and group therapy through adventure. A demonstrated alternative to talk therapy- especially for clients for whom traditional therapy has been unsuccessful-our services are provided year-round, utilizing the natural environment to engage our clients behaviorally, emotionally and physically.
As the first community-based nonprofit organization to be nationally accredited as an outdoor behavioral healthcare (OBH) program through the Association of Experiential Education (AEE), Adventure Works operates above industry standards of ethical care, treatment evaluation, and risk-management practices that have been developed exclusively for outdoor behavioral healthcare programs.
