Adventure Works Executive Director Lynette Spencer is excited to welcome three new therapists to the staff. Tom Garcia, Morgan Kolecke and Rachel Pruess joined the staff this summer and are accepting new clients.
Garcia served an internship with Adventure Works while earning his Master’s Degree in social work specializing in adolescent, youth and family therapy from Aurora University. During that time he also worked with at-risk youth at Youth and Family Services in Warrenville. He is currently working toward clinical social work license. Tom’s bilingual skills in English and Spanish help make him a valuable resource to staff and clients.
Koleke is a licensed clinical professional counselor with a Master’s Degree from Roosevelt University. She has worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient units, emergency rooms, community mental health agencies and substance treatment facilities. Her focus of treatment often includes symptom management, development of coping skills, dealing with life events, self-esteem/self- discovery, communication, conflict resolution and career/educational goals.
Pruess is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s Degree from Loyola University in Chicago with an emphasis in child and families. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Iowa State University. Most of her work has been with foster youth where she provides trauma-based therapy and support to families. As a foster parent herself, she has seen the benefits of adventure therapy with her own foster son. She is passionate about helping children and families face their challenges by identifying their strengths and supports, providing new experiences and helping them move forward in their journey. Spencer said she is very excited to be able to expand the services of the adventure-based counseling agency by adding to the agency’s team of therapists.
“Tom, Rachel and Morgan are very skilled and each has unique experiences that will add to the diversity and competency of our team. The timing is ideal because it coincides with our move to our new location and is another milestone in the evolution of Adventure Works,” Spencer said. Adventure Works is a not-for- profit counseling agency and its mission is to assist youth in overcoming challenges and becoming healthy adults through adventure-based counseling.
