Successfully completing John’s campaign pledge from 2010, DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder, John Acardo announces his bid for re-election. In 2010, John promised to enhance the office’s online presence; create more accessibility to the polls for voters; and professionalize services. He accomplished all three – while saving money.
Within two years, John has saved the taxpayers of DeKalb County over $220,000. He has also has developed a highly interactive and resource intense online presence for the taxpayers at www.dekalbclerk.com. From ordering a birth record online, to downloading your sample ballot, to searching all the County’s land records, (completed mid-2013); John has pushed the limits of e-government and will continue to do more of the same in the next four years.
“We have come so far in just a short amount of time,” Acardo stated. “Retaining top talent through the significant changes I have implemented, while diversifying the staff’s knowledge in all divisions has been essential to achieve this mission.” “The staff are what make this organization run smoothly; I have made it my mission to simplify procedures using technology, and to give them the resources they need to ensure the highest quality customer service and delivery of our products,” Acardo continued.
Over the next four years, John will continue to sustain the changes made over the past three years, and to continue to automate and develop staff to meet the changing demands of the future. He promises to expand on staff development, especially in continued training in the use of new tools to make work more efficient, training in bi-lingual customer support, and breaking down silos and building strong teamwork amongst the staff.
“I am looking forward to the challenges ahead, and will continue to be committed to finding ways to make government more efficient, save money where we can, and enhance our e-presence to maintain the highest level of transparency,” Acardo concluded.
A formal announcement is planned for later this year. Visit his website at www.acardoforclerk.com for more information and to review his accomplishments and vision for 2014 and beyond.
