(DeKalb) – Meet at the DeKalb Public Library on the second Tuesday of every month for a book club just for seniors.
Meet on Tuesday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m., to discuss An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
If you’re wondering what happened to governing at the highest level, accompany award-winning writer and historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin, on a trip in time back to the 1960s and the advent of the “Great Society.”
Beginning with JFK’s tragically shortened presidential term and coming to fruition under LBJ’s deft handling of Congressional legislation, “The Great Society” brought about ground-breaking legislation and programs that still exist today. In addition to this historical junket, Doris Kearns has truly written an “unfinished love story” to her spouse of 42 years, Richard Goodwin, who was the speechwriter and policy shaper first for JFK and then LBJ in his long tenure in service to the country he loved.
Books will be available in the Adult Services Department. Some large print copies may be attainable. Also available in Libby in audio & eBook form.
This book club is intended for adults. No registration is required. It will be held in the Nancy D. Castle Collaboration Studio.
