(DeKalb) – Unicorns aren’t real, right? But what about narwhals—they look like unicorns! When Jellyfish meets Narwhal, Jelly doesn’t believe narwhals are real. And Narwhal has never seen a fish that looks like Jellyfish! That doesn’t stop them from being friends and doing the best friend stuff, like 1) eating waffles 2) forming a pod and 3) imagining the best stories.
Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea is the DeKalb Public Library’s Bookworm Barbs book for September. Bookworm Barbs is our book club for students going into K-2. We read shorter chapter books with lots of pictures. Older first and second grade students may be able to read on their own, but the books also make a nice family read aloud, too.
Bookworm Barbs will meet on Thursday, September 18, at 4:00 p.m.
Is your child a little bit older and looking for a book club? Check out our BARB (Books Are Really Brilliant) Book Club for students in grades 3-5.
A tiger cub is missing from a reserve in India! Can Neel find her and keep her safe from the greedy Gupta, who wants to sell her?
Tiger Boy is our BARB Book Club book this month. BARB (Books Are Really Brilliant) book club is for students in grades 3-5. At our meeting, we talk about the book, but that’s not all! We’ll also play a game and eat a fun snack inspired by the book.
BARB Book Club will meet on Thursday, September 18, at 5:00 p.m.
Pick up a copy of either book at the Children’s Department Desk while supplies last. Please register at dkpl.org for either book club, as space is limited. Book clubs will meet in the Story & Activity Room.
