The holidays are extremely challenging for our service members, but a package from home makes it somewhat sweeter. Our candy donations are sent to our U.S. Military members serving overseas. This year candy and treats donations are down due to COVID-19 and families’ concerns for health issues.
The campaign for ‘Sweets4Troops’ ends this week and we would like to thank everyone for their efforts. But, there is still time to help.
“Because of families not buying candy, we have received several requests to make financial donations to purchase candy,” commented DeKalb businessman and USAF Veteran Michael Embrey who started the first “Sweets4Troops” program six years ago. “Anyone that would like to make a financial donation may do so by writing a check to the ‘DeKalb American Legion’ and mark on the memo line ‘Sweets4Troops.com.”
Please send your donations to:
Sweets4Troops
DeKalb American Legion Post 66
1204 S. 4th St.

You can also drop off a donation with the information from above to one of the following locations:
- DeKalb Fire Department, 7th Street (700 Pine Street) in DeKalb
- Sycamore Fire Department, 535 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore
- Le Print Express, 1950 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore
- County Liquors, 625 E State St in Sycamore
- Papa Johns Pizza, 203 W Lincoln Hwy. in DeKalb

Sweets4Troops.com is extremely excited about the expansion of the donations as the Manton family from Skokie (IL) collected over 75 pounds of candy from people in the northwest suburbs/City of Chicago. “We saw the information about ‘Sweets4Troops.com’ and wanted to help,” commented Tami Lifton Manton. “It is projects like this that give people a chance to give back to our military service members.”
