The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce has announced it’s 2015 Kirkland Citizen of the Year and it is Patrick J. Brennan. Congratulations Mr. Brennan!
Following is the letter submitted in his honor:
One of the highlights of living in a small town is getting to know so many of the people who not only live in the town present day, but have lived here for a lengthy period of time and are able to tell you about the history of the town.
When I first moved to Kirkland, one of the people who immediately brought my attention to the history of the town was Pat Brennan. Pat spoke with pride about Kirkland and about raising his family here. He was never too busy to fill me in on part of Kirkland’s rich history that I knew nothing about.
Pat has been supportive of the Kirkland Public Library, as has his family. I know Pat is a DeKalb County Master Gardener and devotes hours to educating others about gardening. His is also involved with the Franklin Township Park District, the Kirkland Historical Society and is always willing to lend a hand whenever it is asked of him. Members of his church speak highly of Pat’s devotion to his church and his generosity.
