It’s about doing something that benefits kids!
Bowl For Kids’ Sake kicks off this Friday at the Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb. Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a long-time community event and is the largest fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeKalb County, funding up to 65% of its annual budget. The campaign culminates in community-wide bowling events held throughout the County in early March. Funds raised provide guidance to at risk children through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and go directly toward matching children with caring Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers.
National studies have shown that Little Brothers and Little Sisters are less likely to begin using illegal drugs and alcohol, less likely to skip school, more confident in their schoolwork performance and able to get along better with their families. Big Brothers Big Sisters was also selected by Forbes Magazine as one of its Top Ten charities, making the publication’s “Gold Star” list of charities which it believes are worthy of donor consideration.
This year’s Bowl for Kid’s Sake event days are March 4-6 at Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb, March 7-8 at NIU’s Huskie Den and March 13 at Idle Hour Lanes in Sandwich. For more information at to register, please visit the Family Service Agency’s website
