The 2021, 14th Annual Veterans Weekend will be held on Friday July 30th, Saturday July 31st, and Sunday August 1st in DeKalb County Illinois, Rain or Shine.
The Veterans Weekend is organized to get veterans, non-veterans and the community to gather together and have a fun filled weekend and also to Honor Veterans, Senior Citizens, First Responders, and Healthcare Workers.

There will be a Living History Military Encampment held at the Genoa Veterans Home, 311 South Washington Street, Genoa, Illinois 60135. The encampment will start Friday evening July 30th and remain in place until Sunday morning on August 1st of 2021. Currently four different military re-enactor units plan to participate. Friday July 30th from 4:00pm to close the DeKalb AMVETS Post 90 will host the start of the Veterans Weekend with an Open House MEET and GREET Event featuring drink specials, Filthy Hog Food Trailer and the Six Pack Band from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. This is a real good way to start the weekend to honor our veterans, senior citizens, first responders and healthcare workers.
Saturday July 31st from 9:00am-11:00am the HyVee Food Store, 2700 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, Illinois 60178 will host a Veterans & Community Breakfast. They will be serving their normal breakfast plus the military’s favorite SOS.
Saturday July 31st following the Veterans & Community Breakfast from 11:00am-11:40am staging will take place in front of the HyVee Food Store for the Motorcycle/Motorcade Parade of Vehicles. 2 wheelers, 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers, cars, trucks and all street licensed vehicles are encourage to participate.
The parade will start at 11:50am and is co-hosted by the Sycamore American Legion Riders, Genoa American Legion Riders, Heartland Hospice and DeKalb County Forty and Eight. The parade travels to eight senior living facilities in DeKalb and Sycamore for a short program to Honor Veterans, Senior Citizens, First Responders and Healthcare Workers. The parade will end at the Genoa Veterans Home.
Saturday July 31st from 2:00pm to close the Genoa Veterans Home and it’s five organizations are hosting a Veterans Awareness Fair with Blood Drive from 2:00pm until 6:00pm and will also include various activities such as raffle, gaming, Living History Military Encampment, Filthy Hog Food Trailer, POW/MIA Remembrance Table Ceremony at 6:00pm and the Couch Coins Band from 7:00pm-11:00pm.
Sunday August 1st from 8:00am-11:00am at the Genoa Veterans Home the American Legion Auxiliary will host a Veterans & Community Breakfast.
